ITU and ASTC hosted the ITU level 1 Technical Official seminar at the university of Taipei, Chinese Taipei from June 4th to 5th right after the 2017 New Taipei Asian Cup triathlon. The seminar brought together 18 participants from Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, and Singapore to provide training and education to help participants expand their horizon of their officiating knowledge and experience.
All of candidates were carefully selected among active and experienced technical officials pool by respective national federations.
Alan Ma, ITU facilitator and ITU level 3 Technical official, expressed his special thanks to Chinese Triathlon Association for all their efforts and support to make this seminar successful. “I am happy to have this opportunity to officiate with new colleagues in the New Taipei Asian Cup before the seminar. Through this seminar, I wish all the candidates to realize that they should update the ITU competition Rules on a regular basis and officiate in the various events to enhance their officiating skills.”
Participants mentioned that they enjoyed the seminar very much and thanked Alan Ma who made the seminar interactive and cooperative by offering group tasks and inviting questions and feedback.
On behalf of Chinese Triathlon Association, Andrew Tai, international affairs director of Chinese Taipei Triathlon Association, told that he really appreciates ITU and ASTC for the support to let them have this seminar after the New Taipei ASTC Asian Cup. He personally prefers the seminar after the event because participants can review what they did at the event, and working together as a team at the event make candidates more interactive in comfortable mood.
“CTTA has been developing our sport in Chinese Taipei and number of participants and domestic events has been dramatically increased. I hope the seminar can help CTTA have higher quality events in the future.” Said Ki, Wookyong, ASTC Sport Development coordinator.
