Vote for pair of paratriathletes shortlisted for IPC Athlete of the Month

By Erin Greene | 05 Nov, 2012

Paratriathletes Melissa Stockwell (USA) and Yannick Bourseaux (FRA) have each been shortlisted for October’s International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athlete of the Month prize. Help these paratriathletes win the coveted award by voting for one of them here. The polls will be open until 12:00 on Friday, November 9.

Stockwell, who is an Iraqi war veteran, recently collected her third consecutive world title in the women’s TRI-2 division at the Barfoot & Thompson World Triathlon Grand Final in Auckland. Stockwell made the transition to paratriathlon after representing her country at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics as a swimmer.

Like Stockwell, Bourseaux also has a diverse sporting background. The Frenchman is a veteran paratriathlete having competed since age 14, but is currently training in preparation for qualifying for the Sochi 2014 Paralympics in Nordic skiing in an attempt to prove his prowess over snow as opposed to pavement. However, he returned to paratriathlon in Auckland to compete in the men’s TRI-4 class, and seamlessly continued his impressive career by claiming his second consecutive world title in the race.

Both Stockwell and Bourseaux will face stiff competition from three other parathletes. Be sure to vote for these spectacular paratriathletes today.
