By World Triathlon Admin | 31 Oct, 2008

Earlier this week, senior ITU staff was in Lausanne to meet with IOC and participate in the ASOIF Post-Beijing De-brief.  The ITU delegation included President Les McDonald, Executive Director Loreen Barnett and Beijing Olympic Games Technical Delegates Gergely Markus and Enrique Quesada.  Also joining the ITU team was Iwan Schuwey, high performance director of Swiss Triathlon.

The Beijing de-brief included extensive discussion on all aspects of the Beijing Olympic Games from accreditation to venue operations.  Generally the feedback was very positive across all areas.  However, there were some suggested improvements discussed. Representatives from LOCOG were on hand to listen to the various recommendations from the International Federations and take them into consideration for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the review of Beijing, the focus transitioned to the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 in Singapore.  ITU and the IOC discussed the qualification process for the Youth Olympic Games sprint event and mixed relay.  More detailed information will be available pending final IOC approval.
