The first ever BG-ITU Europe Junior Select Camp will be held in Tiszaújváros, Hungary from 13th to 19th September 2008. Tiszaújváros is recognized the world over as a destination for World Class triathletes and it is a city committed to sporting excellence.
The objective of the camp will be to work with a group of athletes and coaches selected from the developing and emerging nations within Europe to assist them advance their skills and develop long term training plans with a view to taking their training and racing skills and techniques to the next level.
The camp will be managed by Libby Burrell, Director of ITU Sport Development and former USA High Performance Director and South African Olympic Triathlon Coach. She will be joined by a staff of internationally known coaches.
The 2008 European Junior Select Triathlon Camp will target athletes between the ages of 15 and 17 years (born in years 1990, 1991 and 1992).
Each National Federation may nominate a maximum of two (2) athletes, one of which must of the opposite gender. Nominated athletes will be selected from the results of the 2008 European Championships held earlier this year as well as those athletes that have achieved specific time standards. All National Federations must nominate one (1) coach to work along side the head coaching staff for the camp. ITU and ETU Sport Development Committee will select a maximum of 16 athletes for this Junior Select Camp.
ITU will provide each National Federation with apartial
subsidy to assist with travel costs to Hungary. All other costs such as airport transfers, accommodation, meals and coaching will be fully covered by ITU.
All National Federations wishing to nominate athletes and a coach for the camp must complete this application form and submit via email no later than July 30th, 2008. The final group will be selected and named by August 1st, 2008.
