ETU Events Update

Two more rounds before the end of the 2006 ITU Triathlon European Cup series please find below the following updates.

1. ETU Ranking:
After the Kedzierzyn Kozle ITU Premium European Cup Triathlon the new leaders of the ETU Rankings are Lenka Zemanova (Radova) and Martin Krnavek, both from Czech Republic. In both of the women and the men ranking several athletes still have the chance to win the overall classification and get the biggest share of the 25,000 Euro (total for women and men) bonus prize money.

2. ETU Duathlon European Championships – Rimini, Italy (7/8 October 2006)
As of 25 of September, there are 507 athletes registered from 27 countries included 4 overseas countries (Australia, Canada, Kenya and USA). The Italian Triathlon Federation chaired by Emilio di Toro and the Local Organising Committee lead by Giuliano Mami are looking forward to welcome all the athletes in Rimini soon.

3. 2006 ITU Campeonato Iberoamericano de Triatlón (8 October 2006)
The event will award ITU and ETU points with the same level as the ITU European Cup Triathlon and will be open for all the countries all around Europe.


4. Alanya ITU Premium European Cup Triathlon, Turkey (18 October 2006)
The traditional Alanya Triathlon will be held on the 18th of October as the next round of the European Cup series. There will be additionally an ETU Junior Cup and an Age-Group event held on the same day as the elite. The updated contact details and the link to the new LOC website have been updated on the ETU/ITU website. Please book your travel and accommodation as soon as possible. Please also note that all the entries have to be done via the ITU Online entry system.

5. Eilat ITU Premium European Cup Triathlon, Israel (28 October 2006)
The Final round of the European Cup series will be held on the 28th of October in the beautiful Eilat. The Israeli Triathlon Union offers the top 15 athletes in the ITU Points list and the top 15 athletes in the ETU European Ranking (as of today, 28 October 2006) Furthermore LOC can also offer on Sunday after the race a one-day tour to Jerusalem and to the Dead-sea. In Eilat there will be an age group event on Friday with 1500 athletes all over Israel and on Saturday before the elite event the ETU Junior Cup will be held with over 100 juniors from Israel and hopefully from many countries over Europe. If a team will bring a junior squad over 6 athletes, 3 out of the 6 athletes will stay on the costs of the Local Organising Committee.
