Coaches Seminar Opens in China

Opening of the 2006 IOC Olympic Solidarity Triathlon Technical Course for Coaches

Beijing, China, 15 March 2006: Wang Jianguo,Secretary General of the China Triathlon Sports Association writes: 22 triathlon coaches from all over China gathered in Beijing today for the opening of the 2006 IOC Olympic Solidarity ITU Triathlon Technical Course.

Brendon Downey from New Zealand, who was appointed by ITU as the mentor for the 10-day course, together with his Assistant, Ralph Peter Gonzalez from the Philippines, will be sharing triathlon knowledge with their Chinese colleagues in the next two weeks.

The course opening was honored by the presence of Mr. Gu Yaoming, the Secretary General of the Chinese Olympic Committee who outlined his expectations to the participants for the next 10 days, and further for China triathlon at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Mr. Wang Xuanqing, Vice President of CTSA, was also present at the opening and he extended a big thank you to the supports from the IOC and ITU, and the mentor, Mr. Brendon Downey.
