Triathlon commentators are starting to run out of superlatives to describe the dominance of Britain’s Alistair Brownlee who has won all three rounds of the Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series that he has competed in.

Madrid, Washington DC and Kitzbühel have all seen Brownlee victories, but the Yorkshireman’s big prize before the Gold Coast would be a win at the 2012 London Olympic Games venue. British hopes also rest with Will Clarke and Tim Don who have shown glimpses of being back towards their best. Brownlee’s younger brother, Jonathan, may also be one to watch out for as he looks to scalp a few more of the experienced veterans.

Aside from Brownlee the man of the moment is Jarrod Shoemaker from the USA. Having shown everyone a clean pair of heels in Hamburg the American is full of confidence leading into London. The super runner will be hoping to hold off Australia’s Brad Kahlefeldt for the second time, as the Aussie goes in search of his first win of the year following three silver medals during the World Series.

The Europeans will want to keep the rest of the world behind them, and none more so than reigning European champion Javier Gomez from Spain. The 2008 world champion is now fully recovered from an early season injury and will want to upset the Brownlee party having finished as runner-up to the Englishman on two occasions already in 2009.

Steffen Justus fronts German hopes in the absence of Olympic champion Jan Frodeno whilst Laurent Vidal from France will be looking to keep his Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series dreams alive with another strong performance. The Russians should also be in the thick of the action with Brukhankov, Vasiliev and Polyansky all making the trip to the British capital.

Two men with something to prove are Australia’s Courtney Atkinson who returns to action having missed Kitzbühel with flu, and Kris Gemmell from New Zealand who is still looking for his first podium finish of the Dextro Energy Triathlon – ITU World Championship Series.

Los comentaristas del triatlón se están empezando a quedar sin superlativos para describir el dominio del británico Alistair Brownlee tras haber ganado las tres carreras del Campeonato del Mundo de Triatlón ITU Dextro Energy en las que ha participado.

Madrid, Washington DC y Kitzbühel han visto las victorias de Brownlee, pero para el de Yorkshire el mejor premio antes de la Gran Final de Gold Coast sería una victoria en la sede de los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012. Los británicos esperan que también el resto, comandados por Will Clarke y Tim Don también tengan una buena actuación tras haber dado muestras de volver a encontrarse en un buen momento. El hermano pequeño de Brownlee, Jonathan, también puede ser otro a los que haya que tener en cuenta ya que tiene opciones de mojar la oreja a algunos de los experimentados veteranos.

Además de Brownlee, el hombre del momento, está el estadounidense Jarrod Shoemaker, que tras haber demostrado su fortaleza a todos en Hamburgo, está pletórico de confianza de cara a Londres. El gran corredor esperará mantener alejado por segunda vez al australiano Brad Kahlefeldt, mientras que el australiano buscará su primera victoria del año después de haber conseguido tres medallas de plata en lo que va de año en las Series Mundiales.

Los europeos querrán también situarse en las primeras posiciones y nadie lo deseará más que el actual campeón de Europa, el español Javier Gómez. El campeón del mundo de 2008 está completamente recuperado de su lesión a comienzos de temporada y espera amargar la fiesta a Brownlee tras haber terminado por detrás del inglés ya en dos ocasiones en 2009.

Al frente de Alemania estará Steffen Justus tras la ausencia del campeón Olímpico Jan Frodeno, mientras que el francés Laurent Vidal esperará mantener sus sueños vivos en el Campeonato del Mundo de Triatlón ITU Dextro Energy con otra gran actuación. Los rusos deberían en el grupo de los favoritos con la presencia en la capital británica de Brukhankov, Vasiliev y Polyansky. 

Dos hombres que tienen algo que demostrar son el neozelandés Courtney Atkinson quien vuelve a la acción tras haberse perdido Kitzbühel por fiebre y el neozelandés Kris Gemmell quien espera conseguir su primer pódium en las Series del Campeonato del Mundo de Triatlón ITU Dextro Energy .
