Asia Triathlon

The 2008 Asian Triathlon Championships will be moved to May 2-3 instead of April 19-20 but will remain in Guanzhou, China.  The decision was made at the recent meeting of the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC) Executive Board.  During a recent inspection by the ASTC, it was determined that more time was needed to complete construction of the event facilities.  For the safety of the athletes, the center lake was drained to remove all the mud and pollutants.  Water from the University town’s water treatment plant will be used to fill the lake back up.  In addition, the change of date also serves to avoid the high costs in April due to a number of spring exhibits and events.

As a result, the Subic Bay ITU Triathlon Asian Cup that was scheduled for May 2-3 will now be moved to May 10-11.  An updated calendar of ASTC will be released soon.

Los Campeonatos de Triatlón asiáticos del 2008 pasarán a disputarse el 2-3 de mayo en lugar del 19-20 de abril, pero permanecerán en Guanzhou, China. La decisión se tomó en la reciente reunión de la Junta Directiva de la Confederación de Triatlón asiática (ASTC). Durante una reciente inspección de la ASTC, se determinó que era necesario más tiempo para completar la construcción de las instalaciones deportivas. Para la seguridad de los atletas, el lago central se vaciará para eliminar todo el fango y agentes contaminantes. El agua de la ciudad universitaria, agua de la planta de purificación será la que se utilice para llenar el lago. Además, el cambio de fecha también sirve para evitar los grandes gastos del mes de abril debido al gran número de exhibiciones y acontecimientos en primavera. 

Por consiguiente, la Copa asiática de Triatlón de Subic Bay programada para el 2-3 de mayo pasará ahora a disputarse el 10-11 de mayo. Pronto de publicará un calendario de la ASTC actualizado.
