ITU and ASTC held an ITU Level 1 Technical Officials Seminar in Burabay to boost the development of the Technical Officials in Central Asia.

A total of 39 Technical Officials from four countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Korea) took a two-day course consisting of lectures and practical work. Most of participants were certified NTOs with diverse experience as Technical Officials in international and domestic events. There were many practical questions raised by the participants which made the course very interactive and interesting.

Two facilitators, David Hoong from Singapore and Alan Ma from Macau, did their best to share their knowledge and experience with participants in interactive mood they created by inviting questions and giving group tasks.

“I am so happy to have this course before Burabay Asian Youth Olympic Qualifier and Junior Asian Championships. This course is very helpful for our Technical Officials to update ITU competition rules and adapt practical officiating skills. So our technical officials will be able to apply what they learn during these important events,” said Yuriy Solovyev, the President of Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation.

“This is my first seminar I conducted as facilitator. I am so glad to get a lot of positive feedbacks from the participants. Under the guidance of David Hoong, one of the most experienced technical officials in Asia, I could ensure all the participants contribute during the sessions. I am really satisfied with their level of attention,” said Alan Ma (ITU facilitator).

Kazakhstan has been playing important roles in our sport development in Central Asia. Kazakhstan has hosted many Asian Cup events and producing many international triathletes since the federation was established in 1991.

“I hope this course provides a solid foundation for technical officials education in this region,” said Ki, Woo Kyong, Asia Sport Development Coordinator.

The next Level 1 Technical Officials’ Seminar will be held on June 4th ~5th in China.
